House on the river Maas

The garden room is adjacent to the front garden and is connected to the kitchen, living room and studio via wide, white tribune steps. The studio in turn borders on a green roof garden (in the making). Both from the dining table in the kitchen, the couch in the living room and the work table in the studio, there is a spectacular view of the ships passing by.

Beyond the studio space, a solid steel staircase spans the home in the transverse direction and the home becomes more private: here are the bedrooms and the bathrooms. The fall-through protection is guaranteed on one side by stainless steel cables along the stairs that bridge the height of the studio to the top floor in 1x height: the entrance to the sunken green roof garden (in the making) with plenty of views, but where the wind is not free play has.

Due to the open design of the steel staircase, the split level that is being put through here and the transparent fall-through protection, there are endless lines of sight in the upper part of the house.

A view of the Maas has also remained the design starting point in private rooms. The bedrooms at the front have large windows on the Maas side and from the bath one can see cruise ships sail by. Even from the children's room and the bathroom at the rear of the house, the water remains visible ... albeit that another family member has to cooperate in order to open a room door.

The large windows in the house offer a view to the outside, but also allow a lot of light to enter. Due to the chimney effect of the void with the open steel staircase, the heat can easily dissipate and it never gets too hot in the home. The green roof gardens that will soon be laid on the roof terraces make the indoor climate even more pleasant and ensure water buffering on the roof.

The materials used in the home are pure: the base is white and the concrete has been left in sight. The stairs are either white or solid, clear lacquered steel. All wet areas are tiled with different colors of Bisazza tiles, but because these areas are usually behind closed, white doors, it never gets too busy. Cabinets are custom made for the house and executed in pine pine or colored MDF.
